The London based Rocketnumbernine will release their debut album through Smalltown Supersound.
Rocketnumbernine’s loose and live instrumental jams have seen them count luminaries like Thom Yorke, Giles Peterson and Caribou among their fans, and they first came to prominence after a chance meeting with Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet which resulted in the band going on a short tour with him, as well as releasing their first 12″, ‘Matthew & Toby’, through Hebden’s Text Recordings. The band were also invited by Thom Yorke to open for Radiohead at The Roseland Ballroom in New York in late 2011. It was at those shows that material started to take shape for what would later become the first collaborative release from RocketNumberNine and Four Tet, the ”Roseland/Metropolis” 12”.
With the release of debut album, ‘MeYouWeYou’, and rumours floating around that they are currently doing a collaboration project with Neneh Cherry, the band looks set to take that next step in their career. Watch this space…
