In a place of solitude sat a man. His studio a sanctuary. Time weathered many a landscape on his journey while his soundscapes were created and practices honed. During his time alone he crafted his sound. As he travelled towards us he always listened very carefully. Absorbing and capturing all the noises and wonderful vibrations around him. He found that music exists in almost everything if you listen closely enough. From grains of sand sweeping against the salt pillars of the White desert to birds returning from the skies above their inner cities. These sounds became textures and details in each musical expression. Now, as they meld into one, they magically paint pictures behind listeners closed eyes. Lost Desert is a destination full of mystery. Ready to charm those who find their way.
Lost Desert is a frequent collaborator with Lee Burridge and All Day I Dream, as well as running his own Souksonic label.

What music did you listen to as a child?
My Parents had a café back in the 70s and 80s and we also had a booth with the old Lenco players, so I listened a lot of Disco to Rock and Pop music, and a little later on, I got into New Wave, bands like Simple Minds, Gary Newman, and David Bowie, just to name a few. After that, House Music arrived, and people like Frankie Knuckles and Ce Ce Peniston were my goto artists among many others.
When was the first time that you realised that you liked electronic music?
Oh, must have been in the 80s listening to new wave, the moment they started using synths, the early Roland and Moog. From my point of view there would be no House or Techno without those brands.
When was the first time you saw a DJ in a club?
Haha! When I was 12 in my parents café, then a decade later I started going to clubs with my friends, one of them being Yves De Ruyter, and Danny Van Wauwe who later became Cubic 22.
Which producers/artists/acts inspire you?
The ones that do things I can’t do, thing that are not done before at that time, for example, Matthew Dekay and Lee Burridge back in 2014 when they started All Day I Dream.
What was the last album that you downloaded/purchased?
If we are talking full albums it goes way back, I think it must have been Radiohead. With the House Music genre it’s rare to find albums, but Lee Burridge and myself tried with our ‘MELT‘ album in 2019.
What is your current production and DJ set up like?
I have a small studio at home but it has a nice feel to it, I’m still on an old Apple Mac, i’m not someone who needs an update every month, or years Haha! When it works it works, using Logic for the longest time for hardware I do have a small vintage collection, Moog Voyager, Moog One, Roland Juno 60, Juno106, Roland Jx305, Nordlead 4, and Sequential Prophet 6.
Lately I work alot in the box to mix, I do use Universal Audio, Isotope, Fabfilter, Spectrasonic plug-ins. Sometimes I go outboard to my little SSL X Desk or Chandler Limited Summer.
For Monitors I have my very old but trusted Genelec 1031A, they are so good one you know them, and last year I got a pair of Genelec One from my dear friend Lee Burridge.
For the last years I play with Pioneer Rekordbox on USB, of course its easy and light to travel, and it sounds great using lossless files (NO MP3).
What releases do you have on the horizon?
I released alot in 2023 and to be honest I was also traveling and playing so its about time to get some studio time in. I do have some great Souksonic releases coming soon.
Where can we hear you perform?
I’m Leaving for Los Angeles tomorrow to play DXRS of Perception by Interactions Festival, after that I will be traveling to Australia end of October to play Return to Rio near Sydney, a show in New Zealand, Perth, and Melbourne.
Tell us more about the podcast you made for Balance?
I make my sets playing from USB on a Pioneer XDJ I have in the studio, its compact and I can even connect my Technics SL1200 to listen some vinyl from my old collection from time to time. In the set there are a few released tracks, but also some upcoming pearls and edits that are exclusive.
