Having established himself as a prominent DJ, event organizer, and producer, GMJ aka Gavin has been instrumental in shaping the Melbourne music scene and has taken his talents to stages worldwide. Sharing platforms with leading figures in deep house and progressive music, it was only a matter of time before Gavin channeled his love for hypnotic soundscapes and deep grooves into his own studio productions.
The GMJ project took flight in 2007, leading to releases on revered labels such as Proton Music, Sudbeat, Anjuna Deep, and many more. His music, characterized by its spacious yet powerful sound, has garnered support from industry heavyweights including Hernan Cattaneo, Cid Inc, Guy J, and Nick Warren, earning prominent placements on platforms like Beatport.com.
In 2016, GMJ’s stature in the global progressive house scene was solidified with a nomination in the Best of Beatport awards, while his monthly radio show “Future Memory” consistently climbed the charts on Proton Radio.
2017 and 2018 were marked by tours to London and Sri Lanka, showcasing his busy schedule alongside performances with Matter, Nick Warren, and appearances at the legendary Rainbow Serpent Festival.
In 2019, GMJ raised the bar with a collaborative release on Balance Music and acclaimed sets at events in London and ADE. The launch of the label “meanwhile” with Matter signals an exciting new chapter, featuring solo and collaborative releases alongside some of the industry’s finest.
In June 2020, GMJ achieved a personal milestone with his remix of fellow Melburnian Eric Lune’s track “Embers” reaching the Beatport top 10, marking a stellar ascent in his musical journey.
