A 2-hour exhibition from Juan Ibañez…
Hailing from La Rioja in Argentina, Juan Ibañez is part of a new generation of South American producers bringing fresh energy to the scene.
His growing international profile has taken him across Europe, Asia and Latin America, while his productions continue to find an audience well beyond his native Argentina.
In 2026, he collaborated on ‘Auralis’, a richly textured progressive house cut featured on the This Is Balance Croatia 2026 compilation. Beyond the studio, Ibañez is also the founder of Desierto, an event platform dedicated to developing electronic music culture in northern Argentina.
On this Balance Selections, the producer shows his form though a hypnotic 2-hour mix. Featuring tracks from Kostya Outta, Andre Moris, Matthew Sona and more, this is a dance floor-driving mix filled with emotional turns.

Since the age of 13, I’ve been learning to play the piano, and throughout my adolescence, I picked up several other instruments, such as the guitar, bass, and percussion (timbales, congas).
I’m the only musician in the Ibañez family—haha!
In 2017, when I heard a Hernán Cattáneo set for the first time; that moment changed my life completely.
In 2010, right after finishing school, I got to experience the vibe of a DJ in the booth for the first time. It was just commercial club music, but I enjoyed it just like anyone else—though, as a musician, I felt the music on a different level; you perceive it with a different sensibility.
I don’t really have one single favorite musician whom I admire above all others. In music in general, I really like the work of Gustavo Cerati, a great Argentine musician. Within my own genre, Guy J and Hernán Cattáneo are major touchstones for me—they’re an inspiration as artists, musicians, and individuals.
Growing up, I listened to records by Soda Stereo and Pink Floyd, as well as other genres that my family enjoyed.
Cooking is one of my favorite hobbies; I prepare my own meals and cook twice a week. I try out new recipes and experiment a lot.
I bought an album by Parcels—an Australian indie band—which I highly recommend. They have a great sound, very much in the style of Daft Punk.
I travel a lot these days, so I only carry my laptop and a small, 2-octave Akai MIDI controller—plus my headphones. That’s all I need to produce comfortably from anywhere.
I have a small studio in the city of Córdoba, Argentina. I moved recently, so it’s currently undergoing renovations.
I rely heavily on MIDI keyboards and VSTs for production. My favorites are Omnisphere, Diva, the Arturia Collection, and Hive 2.
I don’t have any releases scheduled at the moment, but I’m working on new projects with several friends—including Simply City, Tom Pavicich, Fran Bux, Nicolas Viana, and Matias Vega, among others.
My world tour has wrapped up for now, but you can catch me playing in Córdoba, San Luis, Mendoza, Villa María, and La Rioja over the coming months, through the end of the year. You can check my social media for upcoming dates.
My next show is at Córdoba Chilli Club on November 6th.
I’m very excited to be part of Balance Selections; joining this record label and becoming part of the Balance family was one of my goals.
I recorded it using two CDJ-900 Nexus units and a DJM-900 Nexus mixer, connected to Ableton Live.
I’ve been working on it for a few weeks, incorporating new music from colleagues as well as several unreleased tracks (IDs) from friends.
