Jody Barr is a name that likely rings a bell. Initially, known for his electrifying contributions to dance floors via sets from DJs like Sasha and Laurent Garnier, appearances on George Fitzgerald‘s Radio 1 show, or his own performances at renowned venues such as fabric‘s Room 1, Space Ibiza, and Bunker in Derry, this Welsh producer has firmly established himself in the music scene. Subseqeuntly, armed with an impressive collection of studio hardware, Barr boasts a dynamic range of music that spans melodic techno, acid, and broken beats, highlighted in tracks like ‘Teriyaki Donut’ and ‘Telepathic Seduction’ under James Zabiela’s Born Electric label.
Afterwards, his career took an uplifting turn with the ‘Marlon Brando’ EP on Sasha’s Last Night On Earth label. Beyond securing releases and earning accolades from prestigious labels, Barr is nurturing his ‘Portable Minds’ label, which he launched in 2016 with the ‘Culture Vulture’ EP. This initiative serves not only to showcase his music but also offers a platform for innovative producers to share their work without constraints, focusing on EPs that reveal the unique and bold aspects of their talent. Barr kicked off 2019 with the acclaimed ‘Lavender Fields’ EP on Portable Minds, receiving nods from notable artists like Black Coffee, Alan Fitzpatrick, and Joris Voorn.
With an eye towards maintaining this momentum, the coming year promises more exciting releases and distinctive milestones, including guest appearances on Rinse FM and Noods Radio.
