Following on from the debut release by Germany’s Powel, Balance Music’s new imprint Dawn till Dusk look’s towards the Mediterranean utopia of Greece. Savvas Karabinos has been involved in the dance music industry since the early 1990s.
With over a double century of production credits to his name, Savvas has released his magic on labels ranging from Anjunadeep to Magician on Duty. On this EP Savvas has crafted four tracks of delicately thought out deep house, and ambient which will only enhance his already respected profile.
Majestic synths breathe in and out on ‘Bliss’ to envelop the listener in a cocoon of pleasure. The pull and push of the thick bass is offset by the harmonic flourishes of keys and delayed stabs. Every layer of the track feels alive.
A thick melodic blanket covers ‘Aspiration’ like a fog, its soft foundation giving form to twinkling Glockenspiel-like keys. The rhythm is sharp and familiar, like a friend who is your first point of contact when you have good news.
The ambient version of ‘Aspiration’ should find a home on many Yoga and meditation playlists. The shimmering keys and piano swirl around, almost like it is lost in space. However, there is a healing ambience at play here that is tailor-made for reflective moments.
There is a change of gears on ‘Never be Over’ as the warm bassline rolls seductively over a bed of colourful melodic sounds. A hypnotic lead slowly guides the track into a short but effective breakdown before the subtly euphoric drop welcomes you back home.
