Sydney based artist Made in Paris is most certainly one of techno’s most promising rising stars.
The DJ, producer and record label owner, has earned a sterling reputation in her short spanning career, boasting a resume that holds guest mixes on BBC Radio 1, Mixmag, and Triple J’s Mix Up. A creative visionary in her own right, her original productions released under Motorik! and Unknown Record Label have garnered support from industry icons such as Richie Hawtin and Oliver Schories. Having spent recent months touring nationally and even in the United States, Made In Paris gears up to play headline sets at Pitch Music & Arts and Days Like This Festival on Saturday 9th of March.

What music did you listen to as a child?
As a Child my dad played a lot of rock around the house. Artists like Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nirvana, Pearl Jam etc. Mum enjoyed some of those artists too but I found her listening to artists like Tracy Chapman, The Waifs, alanis morissette.
When was the first time that you realized that you liked electronic music?
Once my sister started to go to parties around 16 years old (I would have been 11) she started collecting dance music CDs like Wild and Ministry of Sound. I was immediately drawn to these and would steal them from her all the time until I got a job and started collecting them myself amongst others.
When was the first time you saw a DJ in a club?
My first clubbing experiences happened at the age of 16 in Wollongong with locals DJs playing. I didn’t know who they were but watching them mix music captivated me. That year I went to Big Day Out and saw Carl Cox which was pretty special at the time.
Which producers/artists/acts inspire you?
Inspiration comes from many artists. Some big ones are Stephan Bodzin, Recondite, Agents of Time, Rampa, Booka Shade, Patrice Baumel, Tim Englehardt. Watching some of these play live shows has been an incredible experience and some of their DJ sets just take you on such a journey. But most of all I connect with their production. All have unique sounds that draw you in.
What was the last album that you downloaded/bought?
I mostly listen to Albums on Spotify these days. Most recent one that i’ve been listening too and grabbing inspiration from is Everyday by Tourist. It’s so dreamy! I love what he does with his synth work and atmospheric sounds and textures.
What is your current production and DJ set up like?
Right now in the studio I have a Moog Sub 37, DSI Mopho x4, Roland Gaia, Roland TR-8 and Ableton Push 2. I’m pretty flexible with DJ set ups when playing out. Some Pioneer CDJ2000’s and either zone96 or DJM mixer depending on what’s available.
What releases do you have on the horizon?
I’ve got 3 remixes in the works which I can’t say too much about at this point. Also working with Juliet Fox and Pantheon on some collaborative stuff. And I’m working on a bigger release on my label Upon Access for later in the year.
Where can we hear you perform?
I try to spread my shows right around Aus with upcoming shows at Days Like This Festival NSW and Pitch Music & Arts festival VIC this weekend. I’m also heading back to NZ for carlucci Land Festival next month and heading back to the US end of April.
