The German artist from Bremen likes to inject a sense of fun into everything she does, and even her DJ name is loosely taken from the English words ‘be better’.
Adding to her playful personality she also puts on her pyjamas, and regularly streams her famous live session, ‘Bebetta in Bed’, alongside guest acts like Super Flu, and Florian Kruse.
The majority of her productions can be found on Monaberry, but, if look further, you will also find her work on Get Physical, Sincopat, and Anjunadeep.
Her productions are full of inventive ideas, hook-laden melodies, and lush chords, so it’s easy to see why her music resonates with such respected imprints.
On this Balance Selections mix, Bebetta shines once again, with a colourful selection of tracks that serves as a natural extension of her personality.

What music did you listen too as a child?
My older sister influenced me a lot. She was in love with different music genres like rock, gothic, punk, german hip hop and many more, but my biggest childhood hero was DJ Bobo.
When was the first time that you realized that you liked electronic music?
It was 2006 when I visited my first illegal rave in my hometown Bremen. I was directly falling in love with the vibe!
When was the first time you saw a DJ in a club?
The first Dj in electronic music was 2006, but when I was 14 years old I secretly sneaked away from home during the nights for going out with my older sister. But in these clubs we went the DJs played more rock and metal music. This club named „Tower“ is still existing and I am doing there one time a year my own event called „Heimlich“.
Which producers/artists/acts inspire you?
There are a lot! For example DJ Koze, Massive Attack, Freddie Mercury or new refreshing talents like Cioz and Upercent. Also the nature is giving me a lot of inspirations. My parents have a campsite directly in a forest at the North Sea where they went with me and my sister regularly since I was born. I love to stay there as much as possible during the summertime.
What was the last album that you downloaded/bought?
Just a few days ago I bought the new album from Monkey Safari. I really like the positive vibe that is back in their music.
What is your current production and DJ set up like?
My productions are always a balance between hard- and software. My favorite synth was always the Korg Minilougue but recently I bought the Arturia Microfreak and this seems to become my new darling. In the digital world I love the Arturia Mini V. For djing I am working on a standard Pioneer setup.
What releases do you have on the horizon?
There was just the release of my remix for Namito on Ubersee Music and next month there will be a further remix for Los Cabra on Gruuv. At the moment I am working on original tracks in collaboration with the great vocalist and producer HRRSN.
Where can we hear you perform?
At the moment I am playing every weekend on different festivals. The most are taking place here in Europe. In September there will be my first USA-tour and in November I am coming back to Australia/ New Zealand. Really looking forward to it! But if you like to listen to me in a cozy way you can catch me in my ‘Bebetta In Bed‘ podcast series where I stream regularly live from my bed on Facebook and Youtube.
Tell us more about the podcast you made for Balance?
I recorded the mix in a very cozy position, because my DJ set up is always build up in front of a bed. In the mix you can listen to my current favourite tracks and of course my just released remix for Namito.
