The 100th edition of Balance Selections features one of the world’s finest DJ and producers; Guy J, who arguably is the leader of a whole new generation of progressive music fans, and his label Lost & Found keeps redefining the genre through consistently amazing releases, so you definitely cannot discuss the state of progressive electronic music, without mentioning the Israeli maestro.
In 2013, his Balance Presents compilation was a statement from an artist on the rise, and six years later he has kept up that momentum to become one of the world’s most popular electronic music artists.
On this mix Guy J features productions from the likes of Frankey & Sandrino, Guy Mantzur, Brian Cid, and of course a few tracks, and edits from the legend himself.
With Balance Selections we’ve been privileged to release some fantastic DJ mixes over the years, and we thank you for your support, and hope that you enjoy this milestone mix as much as we do…

What music did you listen too as a child?
I was Born mid 80’s and I think like everyone at that time the music that I was exposed to was during the 90’s . At home we had music on all the time and 90’s music was amazing, from Rock to Electronic to Pop, everything was quality. But the genre that caught my attention the most was Trance, and I can say the this is what got me into electronic music, and then I got exposed to other genres of electronic music.
When was the first time that you realised that you liked electronic music?
I Used to hear a radio show in Tel aviv that used to play a lot of electronic music and It was amazing , Iall the tracks were different and original and had so much energy in it, I think also growing up in Tel Aviv, this music was a perfect fit to the vibe of the city.
When was the first time you saw a DJ in a club?
The First time I saw a “DJ At Work” was when I was around 13-14 years old, and it was at a street party in Tel Aviv, I honestly don’t remember much of it, but I fell in love with everything about it, with how the DJ can set the vibe, and elevate everyones mood. Following that I used to take music with me everywhere, and it was around me all of the time growing up.
Which producers/artists/acts inspire you?
There are many great producers today, some of the names I follow are, Dave DK, Patrice Baumel, Khen, Guy Mantzur, and more.
What was the last album that you downloaded/bought?
Last album I downloaded was Cubicolor, and I love it, its produced very well, and features very original music.
What is your current production and DJ set up like?
In my studio for production I use mostly Hardware Synthesisers, and some Pedal Effects, most of them are from Dave Smith, and Strymon, I find the world of analogue fascinating because you touch with your hands, and have 100% control on everything, and I love the fact that when you record something from analogue gear, then this is the metric you have to work with.
What releases do you have on the horizon?
My Next release is planned for October/November on Lost & Found, and I’m working on couple of remixes as well.
Where can we hear you perform?
Summer is very very busy, and I’m very excited for it :). I’m going to host the 3rd edition of the We Are Lost Festival in the summer in Toronto, Canada, and also do the first Off Sonar label showcase, and also, I will return to play at Tomorrowland. Tell us more about the podcast you made for Balance?
I think Balance is one of the best, or main compilation series out there today, every compilation that I heard was more then just a mix CD, and I’ve also had the chance to make one Balance CD, so it has a special place in my heart. So therefore, I tried to make something a bit more unique then regular mix that I usually upload.
