Burak Sar aka SIS is a DJ and producer full of character. His deep influences of smoky Turkish gigs and exotic rhythms led him to make his name DJ’ing in dark German basements.
His early productions combine the unique house sound of global ancestry and raw musicality, and were immediately picked up by legendary names including Nick Curly and Ricardo Villalobos.
SIS has continued to grow and evolve into the prolific artist that he is today, from being signed to Sven Vath’s booking agency to launching his own label Cocolino, he has also held a residency at Watergate, and dazzled crowds at Fabric, along with releasing music through quality labels such as Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical, and many more…

What music did you listen to as a child?
All kind of genres, nothing in particular. But my father used to have his own band. He was the singer, as a result I have been in touch with all instruments from the band.
When was the first time that you realised that you liked electronic music?
In 2003, whilst listening to ‘Knights of the Jaguar’ at the entrance of Love Family Park Festival in Germany.
When was the first time you saw a DJ in a club?
Also 2003, I heard DJ Karotte at a Club in Frankfurt.
Which producers/artists/acts inspire you?
Diego Zigala, Estas Tonne , Istvan sky , Gustavo Santaolalla.
What is your current production and DJ set up like?
Since a few years ago, I changed from Traktor to CDJ.
What releases do you have on the horizon?
Most recent release is Bargun on Moteur Ville Musique. Then I have an upcoming tune on Crosstown Rebels, as well a new EP on Stride. A Rey&Kjavik (Reysis) collaboration, as well as an official remix for ‘Vamos a La Playa’, which is a special work for me, since my parents grew up with the original, so I am very proud to be able to make my version of it. Also, I have a remix coming for Silent Revolt on Moteur Ville Musique, and a remix for Ron Costa on Moan.
Tell us more about the podcast you made for Balance?
Really I prefer to let the music do the talking. I made the mix in the moment as always, recorded it here at home. It includes some new music of mine, edits, and other music I love.
My Recommendations

My edit of ‘Dexter’. Dexter has been for many clubbers a special track that was able to turn everyone immediately to the same trance kind of trip.
If I could recommend only one of my tracks for you to listen to it would be:
SIS – Carousel
If I could recommend only one track for you to listen to it would be:
Nanan – Casa de Floresta
