“Music transcends us all,” that’s what Oliver & Tom, composed by Andrés Martynowicz and Mauricio Infiesta, is all about.
This duo’s symbiosis originated in their childhood. Growing up together, they shared diverse musical experiences in rock and pop bands, where Andrés excelled in the electric guitar and Mauricio in the acoustic drums. A few years later, both continued their studies but now choosing the piano and synthesizer as their main instruments of production and giving rise to the creation of the electronic music group Oliver & Tom.
These two Argentinian producers found their way to progressive house in 2017 when they signed their first tracks with the prestigious label The Soundgarden, founded by a current legend of the genre, Nick Warren.
Their style can be defined as incorporating groove and emotions in their tracks. ‘O&T‘ have had remarkable releases on imprints such as Balance, Mango Alley, Plaisirs Sonores, Soundteller, Hoomidas, and onedotsixtwo to name a few with heavy support from Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Mariano Mellino, and many more. Besides releasing on multiple labels, they also run their own monthly podcast named Dreams of Light.
Oliver & Tom create a musical alternative and a sound of their own that seeks to remain at the highest levels of progressive house so stay tuned for future releases.

What music did you listen to as a child?
We both have fond memories of listening to the music our parents enjoyed, which included artists like Queen, Pink Floyd, and the Alan Parsons Project. As we grew older, we discovered rock bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Babasónicos, The Offspring, U2, and Soda Stereo. We’ve been surrounded by music since childhood, and our shared journey began in kindergarten. During our school years, we both participated in rock bands, with Mauricio as a drummer and Andres playing the guitar and piano.
When was the first time that you realised that you liked electronic music?
While we had always had an appreciation for electronic music, the moment of realization came when we attended our first party, Creamfields BA. It was there that we witnessed Sasha perform for the first time, and it opened our eyes to the world of electronic music.
When was the first time you saw a DJ in a club?
Our first clubbing experience involved watching Markus Schulz, and at that time, we were particularly drawn to trance music. We were captivated by his performance at the club called Privilege.
Which producers/artists/acts inspire you?
Hernan Cattaneo is a significant source of inspiration for us. We deeply admire his work, particularly his Balance albums and his unique approach to curating and collaborating with artists. Additionally, we’re inspired by artists like Nick Warren, Sasha, Budakid, and the melodious creations of Guy J.
What was the last album that you downloaded/purchased?
For me (Mauricio) was ‘One Way Ticket to Hell… and Back‘ from The Darkness, a great band!
For Andres was ‘Rising Sun‘ from Takuya Kuroda
What is your current production and DJ set up like?
In our production setup, we combine the warmth of analog synths with the efficiency of the digital realm. Our primary synths are from Ableton, including Wavetable, Analog, and Operator, but we also incorporate hardware such as the Moog Sub Phatty and the Dave Smith Mopho x4. For DJing, we use 3 CDJs because we find them comfortable to work with.
What releases do you have on the horizon?
We have some exciting projects in the pipeline, including a remix for Corei, a special edit in collaboration with a legendary electronic band, an EP on Univack, and three original tracks that will be released soon.
Where can we hear you perform?
You can catch us mainly in Buenos Aires, where we host live streams from a significant building and, in February/March, at La Biblioteca, another venue in Buenos Aires.
Tell us more about the podcast you made for Balance?
For our podcast, we used Ableton, a versatile tool that allows us to craft our mixes. One standout track in the podcast is our collaboration with Lupe Republic, titled ‘Artic‘.
