Fabri lopez strikes a fine balance on this hour of peak progressive…
Fabri Lopez is a DJ and producer from San Luis, Argentina, with an evolving sound bristling with global appeal. Since 2010, his melodic, signature style has found a home on labels from The Soundgarden to Mango Alley. As A&R for Balkan Connection, he’s shaped a catalogue that is a favourite amongst many DJs.
On this Balance Selections mix, Fabri Lopez leans into dancefloor-ready cuts that strike a perfect balance between tech and tone. Featuring tracks from Gaston Sosa, HAFT, Gonzalo Cotroneo, and more, it’s a seamless hour of finely tuned progressive.

As a child, I was always a musician. I started playing piano at six, and over time, picked up many other instruments. I was really into progressive rock. When it came to electronic music, I was always a fan of Daft Punk, The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, John Digweed, and Hernán Cattáneo.
My first real experience was in the early 2000s. I was very young—I’d heard a bit of the artists I mentioned earlier, but the ones I followed most closely were Hernán Cattáneo and John Digweed.
I first heard Fernando Ferreyra many years ago at the Bahrain Club in Buenos Aires.
Ever since I was very young, one of the musicians who inspired me most was Gustavo Cerati. I’ve always been a huge fan of both his music and his lyrics.
The last album I have is by Gaston Sosa, a great EP, and it includes a remix of mine.

These days, I work out of a traditional studio. I’m drawn to digital synthesizers that capture a more analog sound, and as a DJ, I’ve chosen to use Pioneer turntables.
For the remaining year, there are some remixes and EPs coming up on different record labels.
My next show is in Córdoba, Argentina, at Fruta—the best club in town. Later this year, I have a tour lined up across Europe, Asia, and Central America. I also host a monthly radio show on the Proton platform called Weizen, which airs on the first Saturday of every month.
For the Balance mix, I used Pioneer CDJ-3000s. I’d also like to highlight Gaston Sosa’s EP, which includes my remix from May.
