We shine a spotlight on the team behind Skyline, the night putting Glasgow on the global prog map…
Long confused for the backdrop of Trainspotting (wrong city, that’s Edinburgh), Glasgow is now carving out a new identity with resonating prog nights.
Skyline is a once-a-month day-to-night gathering that’s quietly built a devoted following, featuring a who’s who of the progressive scene and earning the kind of goodwill most promoters spend years chasing.
If you require proof: not many promoters can boast a DJ tracklist featuring tributes written for their night, but Skyline can (seriously, check the tracklist below).
With artists lining up to return and punters treating it like a pilgrimage, it’s clear something special is happening in Glasgow.
At the heart of Skyline is Graham Chalmers, the man who turned a normal Glaswegian Sunday into a global scene game-changer.
Hosted on the rooftop of the city’s 5-star Radisson Hotel, the monthly gathering offers a full day of high-energy sets, from Hernan Cattaneo‘s deep journeys to The Soundgarden’s explosive showcases.

As Chalmers puts it, this isn’t just a party, it’s a full sensory and travel experience: “As day slips into night, you can literally feel the vibe evolve; the city lights come alive, the music intensifies, and the party reaches new heights. And the best part? Your room is just steps away.”
Indeed, you can buy tickets that includes a night in a 5-star hotel room that’s only an elevator ride away. Talk about effortless.
It’s this kind of fresh energy and left-of-centre thinking that made Skyline a natural fit as the official brand partner for Balance Croatia’s sold-out debut.
With the countdown to Croatia officially underway, it felt like the perfect moment to shine a light on the man behind the brand — and invite him to showcase his musical chops alongside fellow Skyline resident and longtime partner-in-sound, Andy Newland.
And what they delivered was a nearly 4-hour excursion filled with progressive heat and threads that might revive memories for yesteryear.

I’m no stranger to the scene! I was a proper club kid—obsessed with DJs like Danny Howells, Anthony Pappa, and Hernán Cattáneo. That obsession led me to dive deeper into the progressive sound, discovering new talent along the way.
I used to mess around on the decks at home, and I played a few bar gigs here and there. But my real journey into promoting started with a “what if” moment—a Sunday party for me and my mates. That turned into something much bigger, and here we are today with Skyline.
Skyline started during lockdown. We were hosting live streams from the hotel terrace, and the response was amazing—people were tuning in from all over the world, and we even raised money for charity.
After that, we decided to do a one-off event with Danny Howells and Guy J, and it just snowballed from there. We’ve created something really special.
We run from midday until 2am, and with panoramic views of Glasgow, you can literally feel the vibe shift as the day slips into night. The city lights come on, the music gets deeper, and the party just evolves.
And the best part? Your hotel room is just a few steps away—no taxis, no hassle. It’s all right there, effortless.
I’ve always been drawn to the progressive sound. Back in the day, I used to travel to places like Twilo, and that left a lasting mark on me.
When we got the chance to use the Skybar with its incredible sound system, it felt like the perfect match.
We’ve hosted some huge names in the scene, but just as importantly, we’ve given a platform to up-and-coming talent—some of whom had never even played in the UK before.
My only rule when booking is simple: I’ve got to love their music, and they’ve got to fit the vibe.
There’s no formula—it’s all about passion and instinct.

Absolutely. We’ve got a fiercely loyal local crowd, but the Skyline family keeps growing.
We’re seeing people making the trip from Belfast, Newcastle, Manchester, and London, and lately, we’ve had more visitors from Europe, even a strong South American presence, especially when Hernán Cattáneo is on the lineup.
Glasgow’s well-connected, and with Edinburgh just a short drive away, it’s become a unique weekend destination. Between the venue, the hotel, and the vibe, it’s an experience that’s tough to resist.
Glasgow has a rich, diverse musical heritage—its clubs and artists have helped shape the global music landscape.
We’re proud to be part of that story, but we’re doing something a little different.
Skyline is all about creating an immersive, intimate experience, and that’s something new for the scene.
Our resident DJs are amazing—some of the best in the game. They’ve been involved in the scene for years and now they’re hosting parties with lineups that could rival some festival stages.

That’s a tough one. Every night has its magic, but the first one? There’s just something about that night—the nerves, the excitement, not knowing exactly how it would go—it’ll always have a special place in my heart.
Oh, now you’re trying to get me in trouble! Honestly, we’ve already ticked off most of the names on our dream list, and that’s surreal. But trust me, there are still a few surprises coming up.
Watch this space!
Easy—pack sunscreen, stay hydrated, and find some shade. But the most important tip?
Don’t miss Skyline at Sea and The Soundgarden stage on Friday, the Skyline Pool Party on Saturday afternoon, and then the Main Stage takeover later that night.
And on Sunday, we close out the weekend with a beach stage session you won’t forget. Trust me on that one.
Desyn Masiello’s Balance 008 is a masterclass in deep, melodic storytelling—less a DJ mix, more an immersive sonic journey.
Released during a golden age of progressive house, it feels like a late-night road trip through shifting emotional landscapes: soulful grooves, intricate layering, and perfectly timed builds.
It’s not about the big drops; it’s about the subtle moments that creep up on you and take your breath away.
SOS’s Balance 013 is a lush, genre-blurring odyssey that plays more like a love letter to eclecticism than your average mix.
Desyn Masiello, Demi, and Omid 16B blend deep house, cosmic breaks, downtempo, and melodic techno into a seamless, two-disc voyage that feels cinematic in scope but intimate in mood.
It’s bold, introspective, and totally unafraid to color outside the lines.
More than just DJing, it’s sound architecture from a trio who clearly trust each other’s instincts and push boundaries without losing the groove.
A standout in the Balance Series and a hidden gem for the heads who know. Still holds up, beautifully.
The Soundgarden is pure sonic storytelling: lush, atmospheric, and deeply emotive.

Sunsetstrip is a slow-burning masterpiece that radiates warmth, depth, and soul.
Across two discs—day and night—it captures the essence of his trademark sound: hypnotic rhythms, silky grooves, and melodic layers that drift effortlessly between bliss and introspection.
It’s less a DJ mix and more a perfectly curated sonic postcard from a Balearic dream.
Hernan doesn’t chase trends, he builds worlds. Sunsetstrip is pure storytelling, perfect for golden hour reflections or late-night wanderings.
A modern classic from a true maestro of mood.
