Name: Lucas Zárate

Alias/Producer name: Lucas Zárate

I grew up in Tucumán, Argentina, in a home where Latin music was always playing. My parents listened mostly to Argentine rock nacional and folclore — nothing international, nothing electronic.
Those records were emotional and deeply melodic, and I think that early immersion in music rooted in storytelling shaped the way I experience sound today.
Electronic music entered my life early. By the time I was 10, I was listening to artists like Skrillex, Deadmau5 and Avicii. It was completely different from what I heard at home, but it grabbed me straight away.
At first it was the energy. Over time, though, I became more interested in how electronic music could build atmosphere and evoke emotion without words.
That curiosity gradually led me toward progressive and organic sounds, which felt like a natural meeting point between those two worlds.
At the moment, I feel deeply connected to the sound of artists like Kamilo Sanclemente, Emi Galvan and Shai T.
I admire how they build hypnotic grooves while keeping strong melodic identity and a real sense of celebration on the dancefloor.
My earliest experiences were rooted in long, immersive techno events, so that balance between repetition and emotion has always stayed with me.
Over time, my sound evolved from that raw, hypnotic foundation into a more melodic progressive and organic direction.
It feels like a natural progression, and I’m constantly refining my own voice within that space.
The last project I downloaded was The Universe EP from Makebo.
My production setup is fully digital. I work primarily in Ableton Live, with a strong focus on sound design, atmosphere and detailed automation to shape emotion and movement within each track.
For DJing, I use Pioneer standalone systems, which allow me to stay immersed in the music and the flow of the set. I prefer recording mixes live in one take.
The small imperfections are part of the human element, and that’s what makes a set feel alive.
I have several upcoming collaborations and solo releases scheduled for this year, including tracks featured in this Balance Selections mix.
I’m also excited to share that I have an upcoming release on The Soundgarden, Nick Warren’s label, which represents an important milestone in my journey as a producer.
These productions reflect the direction I’m currently exploring — organic textures evolving into deeper progressive energy.
I’m currently performing once a month at Do Not Sit On The Furniture, the legendary Miami club that has become an important space in my development as an artist.
Alongside that residency, I play selected venues around the city and have recently started hosting my own boat party series in Miami with close friends and fellow producers.
It’s still in its early stages, but the response so far has been incredibly encouraging, and we’re excited to see how it evolves.
Right now, my focus is on continuing to build my presence both locally and internationally, connecting with audiences who genuinely resonate with my sound.
I’m also looking forward to be part of Miami Music Week, we’re I’ll be playing alongside Guy J, Guy Mantzur, Ezequiel Arias, and Niki Sadeki at the Balance Miami show this March 25th at 1800 Lucky.
