Rising star Kabi lays down a monster set of main room prog…
Kabi is part of a new wave of progressive house producers emerging on the global scene. Hailing from Argentina (where else?), he belongs to a generation raised in homes influenced by the musical revolution of the nineties and early 00s. For Kabi, this translates to a rich musical upbringing filled with Jamiroquai, Illya Kuriaki & The Valderramas (an Argentinean hip and funk duo), and even St. Germain.
Today, he’s building a reputation through carefully crafted DJ mixes and an impressive array of productions. Bedrock, All Day I Dream, and The Soundgarden all feature Kabi’s work, and now he adds Balance Music to that list. His recent Venom EP comprises a trio of well-honed tracks that sound as if created by a two-decade veteran. The title piece, “Venom,” is dance floor titanium—a progressive bomb of the nuclear kind that should come with a warning. “Misti,” with its lovely introspective intro, harks back to the glory days of progressive house, while “Switch” draws you in with melodic grit and a massive breakdown that will captivate even the most stubborn dance floors.
In this Balance Selections mix, Kabi showcases his complete talent with a complete 60-minute set that explores different shades of progressive house. Featuring artists like Traumer, Scippo, Avision, and, of course, Kabi himself, this is a robust journey of dance floor bliss that begins deep before building to a heavy-duty big room finale.

When I was younger, I was greatly influenced by my parents’ musical tastes. A significant moment for us was during our drives to the beach for vacation (400 km from Buenos Aires), when we would listen to a lot of music. If my dad chose the tunes, we would hear albums by bands like Jamiroquai, Illya Kuriaki & The Valderramas, or St. Germain.
If my mom picked the music, it might be softer sounds like Brazilian Bossa Nova or artists such as Gustavo Cerati and Spinetta. As I grew older, I began playing electric guitar and went through a rock phase, becoming a big fan of Guns N’ Roses, AC/DC, and similar bands.
As a teenager searching for my musical identity, I discovered electronic music through a friend whose older brother was already attending parties. I found it fascinating, and from that moment on, I began exploring various genres and subgenres.
The first electronic party I attended was to see Tale of Us and Vaal at Mandarine Tent in Buenos Aires. It was a massive event with a large crowd, which made it challenging for me to fully connect with the music. I enjoyed the experience, but the next day, I felt a strong urge to dive deeper and truly understand what it was all about.
John Digweed is one of my biggest influences in DJing. I’m always amazed by his versatility and ability to weave a narrative through diverse styles. I love going to see him perform and not knowing exactly what type of music will be played that night.
I also discover new tracks and producers daily that I adore. I couldn’t pick just one, but recently, I’ve been very inspired by Fred again.. . Especially his appearance on the famous ‘Tiny Desk‘ — that performance is a soul-soother.
An album that caught my attention recently is Destination Unknown (specially vol. 2) by Pig&Dan. It’s excellent music for relaxing and enhancing a good moment.
To be honest, my setup for producing is quite modest and simple. I use a Windows desktop computer, a 4-octave MIDI keyboard, a Novation Launchcontrol XL, and a Squier Stratocaster for jamming.
I also sometimes use my iPhone to record everyday samples that are useful or interesting to explore later. I still live at my parents’ house, and my studio is also my bedroom, so space is limited. One of my goals for the coming year is to become fully independent and have my own workspace where I can further develop and expand my setup.
For my DJ performances, I use 3 or 4 CDJs (depending on the promoter’s budget haha) and a Pioneer mixer (DJM900 or V10). During the set, when I feel the need to energize the crowd, I enjoy looping and having more than 2 tracks playing simultaneously.
Well… I have the incredible honor of featuring my music on John Digweed’s upcoming album with Slider, an original track. I don’t think I’ve fully grasped the significance of this release, as it will be the last album in the Live In series, thus becoming a part of history. I’m very happy and proud to contribute to this musical milestone.
I’m playing this weekend for the very first time in Brazil! And if everything goes like planned, in November I’ll be visiting Canada, USA, and Mexico, so I’m very excited, happy, and grateful for all that’s happening in my career.
Since I haven’t released a studio mix for a while, I decided to showcase some of the tracks that have featured prominently in my live shows over the past few months, including “Venom,” which is part of my recent EP on Balance Music, as well as several other originals and remixes.
I’m also proud to include the amazing music of dear friends Agustín Ficarra, Facundo Losardo, Polo, Scippo & Tovias to narrate this one-hour story.
Hope you enjoy it 🙂
