Moshic delivers a characteristically moody mix—fitting from one of the genre’s true originators…
By the early 2000s, when much of the electronic world was chasing trance highs and vocal hooks, Moshic Shlomi—known mononymously as Moshic—was charting a darker path. His take on progressive house was not just brooding; it was cinematic, steeped in tension, mood, and layered melancholy.
Releasing early work as Argonout, Moshic made his mark with tracks on Cyber Records and appearances on compilations from Global Underground to In Search of Sunrise, showcasing a sound both atmospheric and emotionally rich. Now leading his own label, Contrast, he continues to explore the space between light and shadow, with recent productions finding a home on imprints like Bedrock and Bonzai Progressive.
His Balance Selections mix delivers on the promise of the label’s name: a carefully curated journey of contrasts that never loses its introspective core. Featuring tracks from N-TCHBL, Stereo Underground, and Moshic himself, the mix isn’t afraid to drift into the melancholic edges of progressive house

I grew up in a very musical home — my mother was a professional Spanish singer, my father a music enthusiast, and my brother is a professional guitar teacher. We were mostly exposed to Middle Eastern music, classic rock, and high-quality pop.
I can blame it all on Michael Jackson — I really admired him and even danced breakdance as a little kid. It wasn’t long before I started exploring the production behind the music.
The first DJ I ever saw was Mix Master Mike from the Beastie Boys. Even though it wasn’t electronic or house music — it was mostly hip-hop — I knew right then that I wanted turntables, haha.
Anything Quincy Jones touched and produced has influenced me. I first discovered him through Michael Jackson’s productions. Later, as a young man, I was exposed to the underground DJ scene in New York — experiencing legends like Sasha & Digweed at the legendary Twilo, and Danny Tenaglia at Vinyl.
Depeche Mode – Memento Mori
I’m a producer who DJs my own music, so I definitely need a digital hard drive! 😄 But I still mix live using CD players. In the studio, I mostly work with software and MIDI keyboard controllers. I love designing my own sounds, so I prefer using VST plugins.
I have a lot of upcoming releases on my own label, Contrast Records. I’m also working on collaborations with friends and talented producers like N-tchbl, Stereo Underground, Yohai Mor, and more. Exciting things are on the way — stay tuned!
I have a very active SoundCloud account where I regularly release live mixes.
After a few weeks of work and carefully collecting music, I really wanted to record a live set that builds from deep to progressive — showcasing my eclectic style, not just classic progressive sounds.
“The Substance” is a cool movie with a lot of powerful messages behind it.
