Wildest Dreams is set to release his debut self titled album.
Wildest Dreams is the brainchild of legendary DJ and odd ball DJ Harvey who is best described by Rolling Stone when included in their ‘25 DJs That Rule The Earth’,“If Keith Richards was a DJ, he’d totally be Harvey. A libertine Englishman turned California surfer dude, Harvey has been rocking dance floors since the 1980s with his ocean-deep collection of rare disco, Pink Floyd-y space rock, off-kilter techno and anything else danceable. Or as Harvey once said, ‘You can’t understand the blues until you’ve had your heart broken by a woman. And you can’t understand my music until you’ve had group sex on Ecstasy.'”
The album, apparently recorded around two years ago over just a one week period, features Harvey on vocals and instruments as well as an anonymous funk band that Harvey hand selected for the recording. The ambitious and eclectic album was picked up this year by Norwegian record label Smalltown Supersound, and has already had a glowing feature review from The Guardian‘s online publication. With Harvey’s legendary status in the music industry, as well as a by line that would read something like “DJ makes psychedelic rock album”, Wildest Dreams seems set to make some waves.
‘Wildest Dreams’ is out August 15th.
