I grew up listening to James Brown, Prince, and The Doors. I also listened to a lot of jazz and classical music. Most of my musical taste comes from my mother and grandfather, who were deeply into these genres respectively.
When I was 15, my mother gave me a John Digweed CD, but by then I had already been exposed to hardcore and acid house. There was a rave venue called Clyro Court just half a mile from my house — every weekend, I could hear the music pounding, and sometimes I’d sneak over in the dead of night to watch the chaos unfold.
However, it was the Renaissance 2 CD mixed by John Digweed that truly turned me onto the progressive house scene. It was the first high-production dance album I had ever heard — wall-to-wall class.
I saw Sasha play at the Hippo Club in Cardiff. It blew my mind!
I grew up listening to artists like Herbie Hancock, James Brown, Prince, The Cure, INXS, and Led Zeppelin — and honestly, the list goes on. These musicians were a huge part of my upbringing and had a massive influence on me.
The first album I purchased was Michael Jackson – Off The Wall. A totally brilliant album. It was also my first vinyl purchase.
I do a lot of writing at home in a beautiful, secluded spot in the woods, far away from the public. I make a ton of noise there! My studio setup is mostly “in the box,” but I’ve invested heavily in software. I also have excellent monitoring and some outboard gear, although I don’t use the outboard much these days.
My first dive into production was back in school, working with an Atari ST, Cubase, and a Roland JV-1080. These days, I’m a Mac guy, surrounded by computers.
I have some upcoming releases with Mango Alley, along with a few secret projects that I can’t talk about just yet. I’m actually working on three albums this year. Plus, I’m doing free music giveaways each month through Hypeddit — so be sure to check those out too!
I have a full schedule of gigs across the UK, Europe, and South America this year. I’ve already been to Argentina and Brazil three times in the past six months, with each trip getting busier than the last — and I’ll be heading back there again at the end of the year.
The mix is a dive into some fresh material I’ve been sent by friends and colleagues, along with a few of my own tracks that are out now. One of my favorite tracks on the mix is St John, a collaboration with Nick Stoynoff — someone I have a ton of respect for and work with often. There’s also a sneaky bootleg with Gai Barone in there. Check it out!
Dune (the new ones). They are all epic!
Still Breaking Bad – although I really liked Ozarks to, similar vibe… Bad people… haha.
Favourite holiday destination would be Brazil – not found a good hotel there yet. But the best hotel I have stayed in would probably be the four seasons in Mumbai or the Taj. Both great places to stay.
