Dimuth K Balance Selections: Deep, driving sounds from a Canadian mainstay…
Moving from Sri Lanka to Canada, Dimuth K has been shaping a career defined by momentum and mood. His sets are deep and driving, often unfolding into hypnotic territory that lingers long after the lights come up.
It’s no surprise he’s become a fixture at Canada’s finest institutions (Coda, Stereo, and History) regularly stepping into booths that have also hosted the artists who shaped his path: Sasha, Eric Prydz, Danny Tenaglia.
In the studio, that same forward motion carries through. His productions have landed on Sudbeat, The Soundgarden, and Consequence of Society, labels that champion both emotion and precision. His recent collaboration with Simply City, Resonance on Balance Croatia, underscores his ability to craft moody, powerful tracks that never lose their intimacy.
For this Balance Selections mix, Dimuth delivers 80 minutes bristling with underground current. Featuring music from Gespona & Djolee, Zehv, and a series of his own collaborations, it’s a statement set from one of the scene’s most quietly underrated artists.

My earliest memory of music takes me back home, my dad always had something playing around the house. He loved 60s, 70s, and 80s music, so I grew up hearing artists like The Eagles and ABBA in the background.
Those sounds were kind of the soundtrack of my childhood.
I really got into electronic music around 2009–2010. A few of my friends had started going to clubs and parties before I did, and they introduced me to what was popular at the time.
I was instantly hooked, especially on the sounds from artists like Eric Prydz and Deadmau5. That’s when I knew this music was something special.
Right after high school, we started going out to clubs in Sri Lanka, and that’s when I saw a DJ in action for the first time. I was fascinated by how they could control the energy of a room and make people have an amazing time. Looking back, that was probably the moment that planted the seed for me to start DJing myself.
Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. When I was little, I was already listening to artists like Michael Jackson, and I still love his music today because it feels so timeless.
During the EDM boom, I got introduced to electronic music and was inspired by artists like Avicii, Deadmau5, and Armin van Buuren.
As I went deeper, I discovered artists like Eric Prydz, Hernán Cattáneo, and Guy J, and that’s when my taste really started to evolve.
Each phase shaped the way I see and make music today, and it keeps changing as I explore new sounds and ideas.
I use a mix of hardware and software when I’m producing. I love soft synths like U-He Diva because it’s so versatile and has a really warm, analog feel. When I want a more hands-on approach, I reach for my Prophet Rev2 because physically tweaking using the knobs makes the process more inspiring.
I work on Dynaudio monitors and reference with my Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pros. Having different tools and options really keeps my creativity flowing when I’m in the studio.
When it comes to DJing, I play on Pioneer CDJs because they’re reliable and intuitive and feel natural for me when I’m performing.
I’ve been spending a lot of time working on new music, and right now I’m really enjoying the creative process. I’m not in a hurry to release too much at the moment, and it feels good to take my time and let the music evolve naturally.
I’m also in the middle of finalizing some releases with a few labels, so I can’t say too much about them just yet. I’ve included some of these new ideas in the mix so people can get a glimpse of where my sound is heading.
My next few gigs are in Sri Lanka, and I’m especially excited for my all-night-long set on November 29th. It’s going to be a special one.
I’ve also got some really exciting tours coming up through April with shows in North America, Europe and Australia that I can’t wait to share more about.
I have a lot of live recorded mixes on my SoundCloud, but this time I wanted to do something a little different and create a mix on Ableton.
My goal was to put together music I love to listen to and also include the kind of tracks I enjoy playing.
It’s a mix of my own productions, both old and new, released and unreleased, along with music from amazing artists like Berni Turletti, Kazko, Zehv, and Oreiente.
It really feels like a snapshot of where I am musically right now.
