A fluid mix from rising producer Yeadon…
Manchester’s Yeadon has earned support through a string of acclaimed releases on labels from Stress Records to UV and his own imprint, 10 Steps North. Multiple Beatport Top 10 releases and millions of streams—including more than one million on Spotify for Face The Sun—has seen him become known for emotionally charged, high-energy productions.
Alongside his own music, 10 Steps North has become a respected platform for emerging talent, receiving regular support from Mixmag, DJ Mag and national radio.
On this Balance Selections mix, the artist shows a penchant for fluid and uplifting progressive. Featuring tracks from Dosem, Sasha, Andre Moris and more, this is a bright 90 minutes of music that feels comforting as it is engaging.

I grew up in the 90’s and most of the music I listened to was on radio, tv (top of the pops), and from my parents collection of vinyl, tapes & CDs.
I remember listening to a broad range of music from rock and pop through to classical and international music.
I remember being fascinated from an early age with how music could make you feel and completely change your state of mind.
I used to play the game Wipeout on the PlayStation a lot as a kid. I remember bopping away to the soundtrack and being drawn in by the energy, atmosphere and futuristic feeling it created which married perfectly with the game.
It was only years later that I learned the music had been curated by Sasha. Looking back, it was my first introduction to trance & progressive music, before I even knew what either of those genres were.
My first proper club experience was seeing Mylo at Digital in Newcastle during my first year at uni – not the most underground entry into dance music admittedly.
I remember being struck by how different the music felt in that environment compared to listening at home.
It wasn’t necessarily the well known tracks that stayed with me – many of the deeper moments and lesser known, more underground sounding records from the night left the biggest impression and helped plant the seed for the sort of music I’m drawn to today.
I run my own label called 10 Steps North and I’m regularly inspired by the music I hear from artists involved in the label, such as Port Manteau and Nickon Faith.
For me they’re great examples of incredibly creative artists who have developed their own individual style and sound through passion and time spent learning their craft.
I’m also inspired by some of the bigger names in electronic music, including Dosem, Guy J, Above & Beyond and Sasha. I recently read an interview from Guy J where he spoke about earlier in his career not just thinking about whether he was going to make it, but how he wanted to make it.
That resonated with me and is something I’ve thought about recently, particularly when it comes to deciding where I want to focus my time and energy.
Paul Oakenfold’s Global Underground 004: Oslo. I picked up this CD from a second hand shop earlier this year and love it.
After doing a bit of travelling towards the end of last year in Thailand & Vietnam, I’ve got used to my production setup now being just a laptop and headphones, and my Ableton Move.
I’m hoping to have a proper studio space again later this year, but I’ll likely keep things fairly simple. I’ve learned that having fewer distractions is often a good thing for me creatively.
For DJing at home, I have two Traktor X1 controllers alongside my Allen & Heath Xone PX5 mixer and my laptop
I recently had the honor of remixing Atlantis ‘Fiji‘, a track I grew up listening to, which will be released on Anjunabeats this July. It’s not everyday you get the chance to remix such an iconic record that means so much to so many people, so that was a really cool project to be a part of.
My label 10 Steps North also has plenty of new music scheduled, with a steady stream of releases planned throughout the rest of the year. There are some exciting new artists joining the label, alongside new music of my own.
I’ll be playing in Cologne on 8th August at Freigeist Open Air. This will be my fourth year at the festival, and it’s become one of the highlights of my year.
It’s a special event run by a group of friends who do it purely for the love of music and community.
You can also catch me in Glasgow for the first time on 22nd August, where I’ll be playing for It’s Never Too Late. I’ve heard good things about the event and I’m really looking forward to playing for them.
Outside of gigs, I host a fairly regular mix series called 10 Steps North Radio, which you can find on my SoundCloud page.
I created the mix in Ableton, but approached it much like I would a club set. Over a few days, I built a playlist full of recent promos, some of my own music, releases from my label 10 Steps North, and plenty of favourites from recent years.
I started with an unreleased track I’ve been working on recently which felt like quite an upbeat, bouncy track to open with.
I had 3 or 4 tracks in mind that I wanted to try and include at various points, and everything else developed naturally from there.
Rather than planning out the full set, I tried to follow what felt exciting to me in the moment, and get into a similar sort of flow that I aim for when playing live.
Matt Black & Jan Johnstone – Sweet Words [out this July on 10 Steps North]
Matt sent me this track last year and I’ve been playing it regularly ever since. It has everything I love in a record – emotion, melody, energy and a brilliant vocal from Jan Johnstone.
I can’t wait for people to hear it.
I’d probably choose ‘What Is Real’. It’s a track that came together quite quickly & naturally and ended up capturing a lot of what I enjoy most about electronic music.
It also went on to receive some amazing support from Guy J throughout last year, which helped make it a special and memorable release for me.
Project Hail Mary was one of the best films I’ve seen for a while, highly recommended for any fellow space and alien nerds.
The Office (UK version) never gets old.
Any Greek island. I love the food, the nature and, of course, the weather.
